EMS PARAMEDIC
 

This course is offered for all persons who wish to provide advanced level of emergency medical care with an EMS service, fire department, or other health-care settings. The EMT-Paramedic course follows the U.S. Department of Transportation Advanced EMT-Paramedic curriculum and consists of approximately 656 classroom and laboratory hours, including advanced level of medical and trauma care.

Course Dates:

 

August 27, 2008-July 2009

Mondays: 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Tuesdays: 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Thursdays: 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. OR 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Fridays: 8:30- a.m. - 11:30 a.m. OR 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

(Students will be assigned to a 3 hour session Thursday or Friday)

Intended Audience:

Students interested in providing advanced level emergency medical care

 

Student Material:

Textbook, stethoscope, uniform, penlight, watch, liability insurance

 

Prerequisites:

Two letters of recommendation

Copy of the following:

  • Current CPR Certification (HealthCare Professional or Professional Rescue

  • EMT License

  • Drivers License/Birth Certificate

  • GED, High School, and College Transcripts

  • Essay – “Why I want to be a Paramedic”  Essay (should not exceed 1 page and should be double spaced, 10 – 12 pt font with 1” margins).

  • Immunizations: (TB, Tetanus, Polio, HEP B, MMR, Varicella)

 

Tuition:

$8200.00 for the Certificate Program (with an $800.00 deposit to secure your spot in class) or 48 semester hours at current Creighton University fulltime tuition rate (EMS 301 through EMS 325)

 

Maximum Class Size: 25
