HeartCode Basic Life Support (BLS) Parts 2 & 3 ($35)
HeartCode® BLS is an official, self-directed, comprehensive eLearning program from the American Heart Association (AHA). This program uses eSimulation technology to present realistic patient scenarios. Students are presented with 5 BLS cases and an online multiple-choice written exam. While interacting with the program, students assess each patient, formulate a treatment plan based on 2010 BLS guidelines, and provide treatment. Successful completion of Part 1, the cognitive component, and Parts 2 and 3, skills practice and testing with a BLS instructor, are the requirements for obtaining an AHA BLS Healthcare Provider course completion card.
Part 1, the cognitive portion of HeartCode BLS, focuses on what healthcare providers need to know to perform CPR in a wide variety of in- and out-of hospital settings. (2-3 hours Online, on your own)
In Parts 2 and 3, the student will demonstrate proficiency in providing BLS skills, including prioritizing chest compressions and providing ventilations. Parts 2 and 3 will be completed in one “skills practice and testing” supervised session with a BLS Instructor. using a VAM system.
